Park City Activities That Aren't Skiing

While Park City earned its reputation through skiing, the town offers substantial experiences for those who prefer to stay off the slopes. Whether you're visiting with non-skiers or simply want variety during your stay, these activities showcase what makes our mountain community distinctive.

Snowshoeing and Winter Trail Access

Park City maintains an extensive trail system accessible year-round. During winter months, Round Valley and the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail provide excellent snowshoeing terrain. Equipment rentals are available throughout town, and the trails offer varying difficulty levels.

For a guided experience, several outfitters lead moonlight snowshoe tours—a memorable way to experience our mountain landscape after dark. Other winter trail options include cross-country skiing and fat biking.

What to look for: Trail conditions vary significantly with weather. Check current conditions before heading out.

Local Insight: Non-skiers are welcome everywhere—the après culture embraces everyone. Book Olympic Park's bobsled ride in advance; it's the most popular non-skiing winter activity and sells out during holiday weeks.

Utah Olympic Park

Utah Olympic Park welcomes visitors throughout the year with experiences that don't require ski equipment. Winter offerings include bobsled rides on an actual Olympic track. Summer brings the Alpine Slide, zip lines, and high-flying shows from athletes training on the ski jumps.

The park's Alf Engen Ski Museum provides free admission and chronicles Utah's skiing heritage.

What to ask about: Event schedules, as the park regularly hosts competitions and festivals open to spectators.

Historic Main Street and Après Culture

Main Street serves as Park City's social center regardless of the season. Galleries, boutiques, and restaurants line the historic buildings, many featuring self-guided walking tour markers that detail our mining history.

High West Distillery offers whiskey flights and refined mountain cuisine in a setting that welcomes visitors whether they've been on the slopes or not.

What to look for: The après atmosphere is welcoming to everyone—participation in skiing is not required to enjoy the experience.

Resort Spa Experiences

Park City's luxury resorts maintain world-class spa facilities. Montage Deer Valley, St. Regis, and Stein Eriksen Lodge each offer comprehensive spa services with mountain views.

What to ask about: Day passes and treatment packages are available to non-resort guests.

Egyptian Theatre

The Egyptian Theatre has anchored Main Street since 1926, hosting films, live performances, and community events. This historic venue serves as a Sundance Film Festival screening location each January and maintains year-round programming worth checking.

Additional non-skiing winter experiences include dog sledding, sleigh rides, ice skating, and shopping along historic Main Street.
