Overlook Restaurant Park City at Black Rock Mountain Resort

We really wanted to like Overlook, but the experience fell well short of expectations. We had a reservation during an early, relatively slow dinner service, yet we were seated in what had to be one of the worst tables in the restaurant. We specifically chose Overlook because it’s marketed around its incredible mountain views, but instead we spent the evening looking at a construction crane and the side of a building. It’s hard not to wonder if we were relegated there because we were dining with two teenagers, especially when so many better tables appeared to be available. The service unfortunately didn’t make up for it. It was slow, inattentive, and never really recovered throughout the meal. The pricing is also difficult to justify. This isn’t a destination restaurant in the heart of Park City—it’s a hotel restaurant outside of town—yet the prices rival some of the area’s premier dining spots. For over $230 before even considering the quality of the experience, I expected far more. The food itself was decent, but nothing memorable enough to offset the poor seating, underwhelming service, and steep prices. Parts of my poke bowl tasted delicious while other bites were incredibly fishy tasting. If you’re coming for the views, I’d recommend making it VERY clear when checking in that you’d like a window table—or consider one of the many restaurants in or around Park City that offers a better overall value.

The macademia crusted halibut and mashed potatoes with broccoli was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. My son got the chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, and the lawesome French fries. The raspberry spritz was also really nice.

We started with their Poutine and cheese curds (delicious) and the Potatoes Augratin (the best I’ve ever tasted) because it was recommended by a family member! But the Macadamia Nut encrusted lemon Halibut was divine! We’ll definitely be back to enjoy it all again!!

I really wanted to like this restaurant but ultimately, the food was very disappointing and the view was not as stellar as we were hoping. We live in Utah and so the mountain vista was not terribly impressive to us, we tried the spaghetti and the house burger. Would not recommend.

The service was 5/5. Our server, Summer, was very kind and accommodating and patient with us. The cool/kitchen made several mistakes with our food, and Summer caught them before we did which was impressive. She addressed them as fast as possible. But the food itself was a 2/5 at best. I went here with my whole family and we were not impressed. Especially because my parents had gone before and enjoyed it. My dad had the fried chicken sandwich and he wasn’t able to eat more than half of it. It was over fried and very oily and disappointing. My mom had the gluten free pizza and it was burned on the edges, dry, and unimpressive. My brother had the eggs Benedict which he said were okay but the burger was very bad, he also didn’t finish half of it. The Caesar salad was overdressed and my steak was severely under-seasoned and absolutely not medium as I’d asked. The wings I had were okay. We likely will not be returning. Though, again, Summer was very hospitable and kind and we all liked her.
