Had the honor of having my ceremony here!! A truly amazing spot, however the parking is a mess! The hikers nearby are pretty territorial and don’t really care to make way for wedding guests. Kinda disappointing but understandable. With news of this shutting down I’m super grateful I got in when I did! A beautiful beautiful spot.
This was the first wedding venue I’ve been to where the couple eloped. This would be the place to elope to! It’s so beautiful up high in the mountains! The view is great! It is really serene up there. Shouldn’t be called church of dirt though. It’s not really dirty? More like mountain chapel.
I had a couple who wanted to have their ceremony here but due to weather (winter came early this year) the road up was closed so we pivoted to an in-home ceremony. I kept an eye on the road conditions and we got back up there two days later to get some photos at The Church of Dirt and the couple is so happy we made a second effort!
Sadly the Church of Dirt arch has calapsed, yet a couple had me officiate their wedding there on a clear beautiful autumn day two weeks ago. The views are spectacular. Nothing beats nature for giving perspective to such a sacred occasion.
This is a lovely free venue near empire pass. You reserve your time and day by placing your information on a rock and writing your name in the planner (sometimes the planner is there sometimes it not) people are pretty good about respecting the time and date. There is not a lot of parking and it is a very popular biking spot so you will have strangers walking/riding by. I am almost hesitant to post about so it will stay low key, but it’s a great choice for a low key wedding.
