The staff at Pioche Village (including Brian the general manager) were rude, aggressive, unprofessional and dismissive of all our concerns and issues. Our room was not ready on time, AC was broken, the bed was tiny and uncomfortable. This hotel does not believe in accountability of any kind. Do not waste your time or money. I am appalled that they are in business with the way they treat their guests.
My wife and I tried to stay here for our anniversary, but it did not meet our standards in the slightest. The door only has an electronic lock (no dead bolt or latch), the bed was a twin size bed, not a queen, and it was extremely low to the floor. The floor was dirty enough that it made our feet black. The decor was minimalistic and cheap. (For example, the chairs in the room creaked when you sat on them, and felt like they would break if we weren't careful) the mirror in the closet wasn't even mounted on the wall. We noticed an odd smell when we first entered the room as well. It was bad enough we didn't feel comfortable sleeping there, so we left and found a much better place to stay next to cotton wood canyon. It was worth the drive to do our activities in Midway to stay in a better place in the SLC area (cottonwood).
Have to go to a different building to gather your keys. Not a big deal but make sure you read the instructions carefully or you'll be lost a little bit. VERY disappointed with the room that we got. Booked a queen sized bed for the wife and I. Got a room with 2 twin beds. We could not even sleep together. I took time off work , booked an expensive room for her birthday and couldn't even sleep next to her. Customer service is 1000% non-existent. Could not get a hold of anybody , no check in desk. They have a phone number to call and a text app to use , both didn't mean a damn thing as you never hear back from either one. I got a text message back on Sunday afternoon ( we stayed Saturday night ) saying "we overbooked". Thats it. No apology , no discounts, no explanation nothing. One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a hotel. The rooms and grounds are nice , but I couldnt even enjoy any of it with the experience we had. Would give -5 stars if it was possible.
First thing anyone needs to know is their office is super hard to find, Google and Apple maps are wrong last turn is a right not a left. Look for the banner flag that says to office (very faded). Most importantly they close the office at 7pm?! WHAT?! NO WAY TO access your room. Sure the phone number you call gives a maintenance phone to text. They don't answer. So don't plan on coming up after work. I'm not even sure when they open in the morning. There's no answer anywhere. No one to talk to. Etc etc. Good luck.
We stayed here a few weeks ago and I would be remiss if I didn’t find time to share a review. The place is new and some of the other surrounding areas are still under construction. The entire area is under development with the new Grand Hyatt nearby. It was great getting a sense of what the new area on the other side of the mountain will look like. The Jordanelle gondola is the closest to the complex and you can walk to the stop sign which isn’t far at all and the DV shuttle will pick you up and drive you through the switchback parking lots to the gondola. You can boot up at the base or the bench next door. You can also boot up at the outdoor area of Rime. There are several easy greens to get you to the main side of the mountain. You can also make your way back to the Jordanelle gondola to download back to that base area where the shuttle will drop you off at your building. When there is enough snow you can ski vs download. There was also a shuttle directly to and from our building but it was still in the analysis phase of if they would continue that service with work enough volume. Having two options was nice. The complex itself was great. It was very easy to get the keys and to the right of the lobby is a dining area, cozy fireplace to relax in, and a gym. The first floor is solely for visitors/lodging and there is an elevator. There is an outdoor hot tub area with about 4 (i think) hot tubs to use. Towels are provided for the hot tub. The studio we rented was well furnished with everything you need and has appliances and cutlery and plates. The bathroom was well stocked with towels and some toiletries. If staying longer like we did be sure to bring your own toiletries. There is a walk in closet with plenty of space and overall we were satisfied with the property and amenities including the laundry room on our floor. There is onsite parking for free and the management company is EXTREMELY responsive to questions which we appreciated. The only issue we had was with the tenants above who seemed to arrive for our last 3 days at the property. They literally were stomping around at almost all hours of the day whenever we were there and it almost sounded like they were wearing their ski boots. We almost went upstairs to ask them to please tread lightly and we acknowledge this was not the fault of building management. At one point it also sounded like there was heavy construction going on directly on the unit above us as well. Both noise situations were quite stressful for the relaxing trip we wanted. Other than that we truly enjoyed our stay at Pioche and would recommend it to anyone. Just take note that it’s not fully sound proofed from above and we could also hear TVs or noise from other rooms. The neighbors on our floor seemed respectful of quiet hours so it wasn’t an issue after 10. We would like to return to try it again but make sure you can ski to and from Jordanelle as we had to take an uber back one afternoon which was a bit of a pain to drive around the mountain (skis trump cars! 😂).
