Disclamers: - I went to only half a service. - Not sure if the priest was new or visiting - I have a conservative background but firmly believe in respect for all. I lived in a muslum country for 5 years with lots of mutual respect. - I deeply admire those who work to improve the situation of those in need and those who are oppressed. - I have been to many services of many denominations and have never left early. ----------------- Having said that, I was disturbed by the sermon. The Gospel reading was difficult (about the mother pleading for "crumbs" off the table and ultimately having her daughter healed due to her faith. I can't say I have full understanding for why it was written as it was. However, I am humble enough to say "I don't know what God does everything he does". I had a real concern for the arrogance of the priest who said multiple times that she was "not OK" with how Jesus behaved. I have never heard someone take a "holier-than-thou " attitude towards Jesus. HAVE WE FORGOTTEN THIS IS THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE???. No humility and clearly looking for every occasion to push her personal agenda, not to really accept, grow, and learn. I DON'T have all the answers and will continue to try to grow and learn, just not here.
Was a member there for over 15 years. Nice to visit again.
Very inclusive group! Offers lots of ways serve the local and global community.
This is one of the warmest welcoming churches I've ever been too. Their sermons are my favorite. For an Episcopalian church, this setting is more laid back. They take great care in every detail from their music to their kids nursery room and their post service refreshments, their holiday services. Did I mention their sermons?! I love their sermons so much. The setting up in Park City is so peaceful. Their sermons.
I fully appreciate your tapes of the sermons. I am learning so much.
