Great place to learn about Park City Ecology. The learning center is next to Maxwell’s Pizza, but you can view the preserve from many surrounding trails. No human access in the preserve unless on an official tour, but there are several different trails surrounding the preserve north and south of the highway.
So glad we stopped by to visit the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter. Staff on duty were attentive & most helpful. It's a wonderful experience for kids & adults alike. A true assest to this community.
A beacon for environmental education. At its heart lies a 10,000 sq ft Leed Platinum-certified EcoCenter, an architectural and sustainability marvel that houses interactive displays, summer camps, nature exhibits, and educational programs for both children and adults. Both the visitor center and the trails are highly recommended!
Stunning! The late-summer views were spectacular. Children loved it! (Animal dress ups were a big hit.) Interactive play and binoculars to borrow. We saw varieties of birds & ducks, snakes, and a beaver. Don’t miss the look-out tower.
Very relaxing activity. We took our 5 kids here while passing through and it was a great, relaxing Sunday activity. It was a little windy, so perhaps consider it might feel cooler than what the weather app says it will be. There is a visitor's center where you can get maps and a key to walk farther out in to the preserve. It has interactive activities for kids to help them connect with what they'll be seeing. We did the little half mile walk right outside the center and it was a fun way to interact a little more with nature. We saw various birds, cranes, ground squirrels, deer, ducks and fish. There are restrooms inside the visitor's center. The staff was very friendly and engaging with the kids. They had pencils and stickers and a scavenger hunt for our walk. That makes a big difference if you're bringing kids that only want to be entertained by ipad. You can buy things in the giftshop as well!
