The Fourth of July is one of the most popular holidays in Park City. Each year the town celebrates our country’s Independence with a local parade, entertainment, games and a drone show. Whether you're visiting from another state or enjoying a staycation, you will enjoy the energy, community spirit, and excitement of a Park City Fourth of July.
5K RUN
The day kicks off with the annual 5K fun run hosted by Park City Ski & Snowboard.
The run starts outside Cole Sport at 1615 Park Avenue and loops through the historic neighborhoods of Old Town and downtown Park City. The exact route does vary slightly from year to year, but always winds through the scenic streets that surround Main Street and Park Avenue.
What to Know: Register for the 5K ahead of time, as same-day registration is generally not available and the race caps out at around 1,000 runners.
4TH of JULY PARADE
The Park City hometown parade starts at 11am and showcases an array of colorful floats, marching bands, and local organizations. The event begins with the much anticipated flyover, flown by "Citizen Airmen" from the Air Force Reserve based out of northern Utah.
From there a lively procession travels down Historic Main Street, onto Park Avenue and concludes at City Park. The parade is a visual feast and a testament to the community spirit.
Local Tip: Be sure to arrive early to secure a good viewing spot. As there are very few shaded areas, we recommend you wear a hat and bring bottled water and sunscreen.
CITY PARK CELEBRATION
Following the parade, head over to City Park for fun, games, and music. The family-friendly activities start at 12:30 pm and continue through to the late afternoon. The festivities include a bustling mix of food trucks, live music, kids' games at the Skate Park, and the traditional community rugby match.
Local Insight: Bring a blanket and an umbrella and find a spot next to the bandstand to set up a "home base."
DRONE SHOW
At 10 pm, the Independence Day Drone Show takes place at the Park City Mountain Village base near the First Time lift.
The show is part of the city’s eco-friendly initiative to prevent wildfires and reduce noise pollution. It's known for its crisp, synchronized visuals and has received praise for the lack of loud "booms," which provides a more comfortable experience for veterans, individuals with PTSD, and pets.
The best viewing spots for the drone show are from the Park City Mountain plaza, City Park, the Park City Golf Course, and Lower Main Street.
Local Insight: Check out the Park City Fourth of July Volleyball Tournament on 7/4/26 at Park City Mountain. The event lasts all day and includes numerous family activities.
FORUM FEST at CANYONS VILLAGE
From July 2nd through July 4th Canyons Village hosts a free, three-day festival to commemorate the holiday. Enjoy performances from talented local and regional artists in a vibrant outdoor setting. The grounds include a dedicated kids' zone, an ice cream social, face painting, axe throwing, and mini-golf.
Each night around 10 pm, spectators can enjoy a spectacular, choreographed drone show. Plus, a firework display is currently scheduled on the actual fourth.
Local Insight: Parking can be limited near Canyons Village. If possible, use Park City's free transit system, the Summit Bike Share, or carpooling to reach the festival.
